TERMS & CONDITIONS BY CHOOSING TO ENROL YOU ARE ACCEPTING THE FINANCIAL COMMITMENT, IF ANY, FROM THE DATE OF ENROLMENT UNTIL THE CANCELLATION OF THE SERVICE. PAYMENTS MUST BE RECIEVED BY ASTS ON OR BEFORE THE DUE PAYMENT DATE EACH TERM. FEE PAYMENTS MUST BE RECEIVED BY MCSTS BEFORE PUPILS ARE ALLOWED ON THE BUS! Pupils cannot use the bus service unless their name appears on the roll. Each pupils name appears on only one bus roll and they are only eligible to use that bus. Pupils who wish to travel on a different bus must first seek approval from the Administrator. The school bus service is not public transport and as such, pupils who have left school or who have been stood down cannot use the bus without first seeking approval from the Administrator. Pupils who want friends to travel with them on the bus must first seek approval from the Administrator. FEES: Most pupils have their school transport privilege fully funded by the Ministry of Education. Those pupils who live too close to an appropriate primary or secondary school to be eligible for Ministry of Education funding, will have to pay for their transport. Pupils who are under ten years of age are not eligible for any Ministry of Education funding if they live less than 3.2km from the nearest appropriate school. For pupils who are ten years of age or older this distance is extended to 4.8km. Eligible pupils are required to make their own way, or be taken by their parents, up to 1.6 kms at least, to a school bus service. Annual fees are set by the MCSTS directors. The fees are to be paid on a per term basis. Invoices will NOT be issued. The current fee structure is $50 per term for pupils who live close to the school of their choice, and $60 per term for pupils who live closer to another school. The actual amount to be paid is worked out at the time of enrolling. There are several factors, such as more than one family member paying for travel, which may lessen the actual amount to be paid per student. These factors can be discussed with the Administrator when a student is enrolled. Most schools operate a fund to support families where financial hardship is a factor. Parents should approach their school to apply for this if payment is of concern. This will need to be done well in advance of the first day the pupil is to use the bus. Separate funding is available for parents who have to transport their children to meet the school bus. Parents must transport their children at least 2.4 km to the nearest appropriate school bus, to be eligible for this funding. Please note that the nearest appropriate school bus service may be provided by an organisation other than M.C.S.T.S.
